Atmos Q3 Review
UPDATE (March 8th, 2020): The Atmos Q3 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Check out our favorite wax vapes of this year.
Kit and Accessories
- Atmos Q3
- Base stand
- Dab tool
- USB charging cable
Compatibility: The Atmos Q3 is compatible with wax, shatter, honey, crumble, and any thick oil extract.
Replacements for the atomizer, base stand, and dab tool can all be found on the Atmos website. If you want a brand new accessory instead of a replacement, then you can try the percolator attachment for the Q3. It adds a water filtration option to cool down the vapor even further. It’s pretty inexpensive at just $10 and fits smoothly onto the Q3 device. It’s a nice option if you want to take the Q3 experience even closer into e-nail territory. If you decide to buy it—or anything else— from the Atmos website, then make sure to use the Atmos coupon code when you do.
Design and Features
General Design: The body of the Q3 has a cylinder shape that’s a little wider, and much shorter, than most vape pens. The rest of the device consists of the glass mouthpiece that attaches to the rest of the Q3 via a 510 threaded connection. The glass mouthpiece has a dogleg kink near the top that makes inhaling from it a little easier.
While the glass mouthpiece clearly limits portability, the Q3 is still small enough to be comfortably held in your hand while vaping. It’s easier to use than an e-nail since it’s so much lighter. However, the Q3 is not as convenient as a vape pen because of the need to hold it vertically while inhaling from it.
Ease of Use: The Q3 is much easier to use than e-nails and a little more complicated than vape pens, but is very easy to use in general. It only has a single voltage setting, so there isn’t any fiddling around with different selections. It’s also very easy to load, even for beginners. Assembly is pretty easy as well, and the same goes for replacing the atomizer when it becomes necessary. The Q3 is a little more advanced than an ordinary vape pen, but it’s still a very beginner-friendly device.
Build Quality: The Q3 has a rubberized finish that gives it good durability and a nice grip. It feels good to hold and should be able to survive minor impacts, though I haven’t tested that for myself. And I don’t recommend that you try testing it either, especially not with the glass mouthpiece attached.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Mouthpiece: Soap and water are all that is needed to clean the mouthpiece. Just soak it in that mixture for a few hours and it will be as good as new.
Atomizer: You need to wipe down the coils and heating chamber with a q-tip or cotton pad that has been dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
How to Use
- Remove the glass mouthpiece from the rest of the device.
- Dab a small amount of wax onto the coils and then replace the mouthpiece.
- Press the power button five times to turn on the device.
- The Q3 will finish heating shortly thereafter, at which time you can inhale from the mouthpiece.
Voltage Setting: The Q3 does not have a voltage selection, but its single selection has a range of 3.7V to 4.2V.
Performance and Vapor Quality
Vaporizer Performance: The Q3 heats up almost instantly, in just two to three seconds. And because of the rubberized finish, it never feels hot, or even warm, after multiple, back-to-back sessions.
Vapor Quality: The vapor quality is good, but it can be a bit strong for anyone new to concentrate vaping. This is one of those cases where the intensity of the hit overpowers the flavor, at least for me. Anyone who likes high-intensity vaping should enjoy it. The long glass mouthpiece means that hits never feel too hot or harsh and that the airflow is always smooth and easy.
Flavor chasers might be disappointed, but cloud chasers definitely won’t be. The Q3 produces absolutely huge clouds, far bigger than any vape pen, and even comparable to e-nails. In case you had any lingering doubts that the Q3 is absolutely not portable, the voluminous cloud cover will put those doubts to rest.
Battery Performance: The Q3 has an 1100 mAh battery that lasts for a few days of average vaping. It takes about three hours to charge, but that’s a small tradeoff for the impressive longevity of the battery.
The Atmos Q3 is an extract vaporizer that’s not quite a vape pen, but is not really an e-nail either. What is it? Find out in the review.
