Quick Guide to using your Firefly 2+ (plus)

Hey! You’re probably on this page because you made the great decision to purchase a Firefly 2+; an on-demand, convection vaporizer from the future!

We wanted to ensure that you have the best possible experience so we created this brief guide on how to to get the most out of your Firefly 2+.

You will have the following pieces included in the box:

  • Firefly 2+ Vaporizer
  • Battery
  • Charging Dock
  • USB 3.0 Cable
  • Concentrate Pad
  • 3 x Alcohol Wipes

Charging your Firefly 2+

The Firefly 2 has a unique charging dock. As soon as you place the vaporizer on it the LED light will blink blue to indicate that it is charging. When the charging cycle has completed the light will turn solid blue.

On average, the Firefly 2+ takes 45 minutes to charge but can reach 80% capacity in just twenty minutes. One full charging cycle should provide enough battery power for 6 sessions of 5/6 hits.

To charge at max capacity, ensure that you’re using a wall adapter that is 9 volts or higher.

Perform a quick burn-off of the Firefly 2’s oven.

Once the battery is fully charged, it is worth performing a quick ‘burn-off’ of the Firefly 2+ oven – this will disinfect the oven and remove any residue left over from manufacturing.

To carry this out, we need to set a the Firefly 2’s temperature to maximum and hold both buttons simultaneously for 30 seconds until it shuts off on its own. Perform this 2-3 times with an empty chamber and then you’re good to go!

Packing your Firefly 2+ (plus)

Now that we’re charged and the burn off is completed, it’s time to start vaping!

To pack the Firefly 2+’s heating chamber we must first remove the magnetic lid by lifting it up from either side.

The Firefly 2+ works best with medium to coarse grinded herbs. Coarsely grind your herbs and then loosely fill them to the rim of the heating chamber. A loose fill allows for excellent airflow over all of your herbs.

Packing your Firefly 2+ Concentrates

As their name suggests, concentrates are far more potent than flowers and dry herbs. If vaping hash/solids the material only need be the same size as a grain of rice and if liquid/oil 2 or 3 drops should suffice.

To power up the Firefly 2+, gently place your fingers on the touch sensors either side of the vaporizer. You should use a similar force as you would when using a typical touchscreen – like a phone for example.

If done correctly, the light will blink green twice before beginning to glow solid green. Once the light is glowing solid green, it’s time to vape!

The longer you inhale, the thicker the vapour produced.

To stop heating, just remove your fingers from the sensor and the Firefly 2+ will automatically go to sleep

Vaping with concentrates

Same instructions as vaping herbs, with one main difference. Ensure you first pull is extra deep. This’ll help you material to melt on to the pad and make your session more enjoyable.

To vape concentrates effectively we’ll either need to change the temperature on the vaporizer manually or use the Firefly 2+ app.

There is a specific temperature for concentrates.

Using the Firefly 2+ App

To use the Firefly 2+ with its smartphone app the app must be open and your phone’s Bluetooth switch on.

Place two fingers on the Firefly 2+ sensor and the light will blink green.

A message should pop up asking if you want to connect – hit connect. Once connect the light on your Firefly 2 will blink blue.

Be sure to register your Firefly 2+ to activate your warrant

To set the temperature in app, slide you finger up and down the temperature diagram.

Firefly 2 – A Few Tips for Bigger Hits

Firefly 2 – A Few Tips for Bigger Hits

It seems some folks aren’t getting big hits until later in their session with the Firefly 2. There’s a practical reason for this with a very easy fix.

Firefly 2 is an incredible vaporizer for dry herb. It boasts top notch vapor production with on-demand hits and a 100% convection heating style that extracts the essential flavors and aromas free of irksome combustion.

But there are a few snags some readers may have experienced, ironically caused by the Firefly’s outstanding on-demand vaping and convection heating, that diminish the size of their hits and waste herb.

Luckily, I’ve gotten to know the Firefly 2 lately, and I figured out an easy fix.

Let’s go over a few quick and easy hacks for getting bigger hits from the Firefly 2.

Don’t Grind Too Much

Don’t over grind herb. The Firefly 2 has a convection heating system that doesn’t like finely ground herb. The chunkier, the better. This will leave more surface area for the hot air to vaporize. And the Firefly 2 will vape your dry herb more evenly.

If you’re using a grinder, spin it fewer times.

Alternatively, you can break up your dry herb by hand.

You’ll probably notice your hits growing bigger, and a little more potent, when you finer, kief-like grounds for little nugs.

Make it Whistle

The Firefly 2 has on-demand vapor. It only heats when drawn from.

That means there’s usually not a lot of heat up before you take a hit, which is why some people are getting skimpier hits from the Firefly 2 during the sunrise of their vaping session.

For a fuller hit, you want to get the vaporization started before you take a bigger draw.

A few little sips will act as a firestarter, if you will. Once you notice the unit has begun producing vapor, the Firefly 2 is ready to go. Take a big, full draw for 7 to 10 seconds.

Suck hard enough that the Firefly 2 whistles. That noise means you’re drawing hard enough to produce a nice, lung-filling hit. Whistle while you work.

Jury-Rigging the Firefly 2

There’s a rumor circulating about another technique for bigger hits. Namely, placing the concentrate pad (included in the box) on top of the herb.

I was alerted to this by a subscriber on my Youtube vid.

The idea, as I understand it, is that the metal pad acts as a conduit for reflecting heat, basically turning the Firefly 2 into a makeshift hybrid conduction/convection unit.

Alas, this works–to some extent. My concern is that this may taint the otherwise pure-tasting vapor with a tinge of smokiness if the pad gets hot enough to roast the herb a bit.

Final Thoughts

The most effective trick for getting big hits from the Firefly 2 is the Make It Whistle method. Just take a few preliminary hits to start it up, then a big draw that makes some noise. Really whistle while you work.

And don’t forget to avoid overgrinding your dry herb.
